Workshop pictures1
The historical district of Jekyll Island has manicured flower gardens. No surprise there. This is Foxglove.

Oaks and Spanish Moss are EVERYWHERE. I liked the shaft of light pointing to the repeating bows, so I placed a palm frond on the other side. The scene was very contrasty, so B&W just seemed like the right thing to do.

Oh, Those Oak Trees!
A photographers dream, where to begin - or end? There is every concievable tree formation, and the light periodically plays off of the Spanish Moss so well!

This is Sea Jay's Restaurant, on the marina property at Jekyll Island, GA. What a laid back place.

Vistas like the above are EVERYWHERE on the Sea Islands of Georgia. I am currently at Jekyll Island for a "The Mindful Eye" photography workshop, beginning today. No doubt, I'll be capturing hundreds of images each day, but may not have time to post.

Fernandina Beach - A Working Place
Fernandina Beach is a compilation of industry (pulp mill, NOT photographed), commercial fishing, and recreational boating.

The shrimping industry is alive and well along the southeast coast, and Fernandina Beach does its part. Hard to imagine how these boats turn a profit when diesel fuel gets to $4/gal.

The city marina caters to the usual boat types. Like us!

Keeping It Simple
Often in photography, less is more - which is why I like these two.

This cleat in a dock in St. Augustine displays a simplicity of line (photographic lines, not dock lines). The colors just didn't work, so B&W to the rescue.

Fernandina Beach has several tiny parks. At any given time, the light varies from park to park. In this situation, the colors definitely did work for me, so I pumped them up a bit.
Simple lines and space shapes. Less is more.
